According to Shilpa Shetty's mother Sunanda Shetty, an eminent astrologer and expert on stones, her elder daughter Shilpa was always destined to achieve eminent glory. Shilpa Shetty was born on 8th June 1975 in the state of Tamil Nadu and attended St. Anthony Girls' High School, Chembur. Later, she completed her studies from Podar College, Mumbai.

In addition to appearing in almost 50 movies since making her 1993 debut in Baazigar, Shilpa Shetty has been a well-known celebrity on the world stage as of late - something that's due primarily to her appearance on the UK version of Celebrity Big Brother. She eventually went on to win this reality show, but it was the controversy that got created during the show that gave her all the limelight. Also to be credited to her worldly status includes her innocent kiss with Richard Gere. But with the sort of raw sexuality that Shilpa possesses, it's not difficult to see why Richard Gere could hardly contain himself.

Shilpa Shetty was nominated for Best Actress at the Filmfare Awards for her role in Dhadkan. She has also received a nomination for her role in Rishtey as well as for her striking performance in the hugely successful movie called Phir Milenge.
